The Grant Life Cycle

Overview

The grant life cycle shows two parallel tracks: the work you do as an applicant and the internal process the grantor follows to evaluate and manage funding.

On your side, the life cycle moves from identifying the opportunity to submitting your application and carrying out the work if you receive funding.

On the grantor's side, the life cycle includes designing the program, reviewing proposals, selecting recipients, and monitoring progress once awards are made.

Grant funding often continues beyond the submission itself. Awards lead into implementation, progress tracking, and the type of communication that strengthens future opportunities.
